TRAINING COURSE
PMVA Level 2: Safe Holds
Two-day training that builds on Level 1 with less restrictive holding techniques, for when a person has to be held to prevent harm.
COURSE OVERVIEW
ABOUT THIS COURSE
WHAT THE COURSE COVERS
Preventing and Managing Violence and Aggression (PMVA), also known as positive handling or physical intervention, is a vital tool for working with people who display challenging behaviour. Sometimes, rather than just breaking away, a person has to be held to prevent harm. Our two day Level 2 course builds on Level 1 with less restrictive holding techniques.
By the end of the course, you will be able to:
• Identify challenging behaviour
• Use a tried and tested communication model and non-physical de-escalation
• Use simple breakaway and disengagement techniques
• Use less restrictive holding techniques
• Manage and move a person in holds, seated and kneeling
• Understand medical considerations and the risks of physical intervention
• Understand the law relating to positive handling
• Complete incident reporting and provide post-incident care
