TRAINING COURSE
Combined PBS and PMVA
A person-centred approach to supporting people with complex needs, combining PBS planning skills with PMVA.
COURSE OVERVIEW
ABOUT THIS COURSE
WHAT THE COURSE COVERS
People with complex needs and challenging behaviour can sometimes show aggression towards family members, carers or themselves. Our combined PBS and PMVA course takes a person-centred approach to identifying and meeting support needs, particularly when someone is distressed and at risk of harming themselves or others. PBS is most commonly used to support people with learning disabilities, some of whom are also autistic, but can support others with challenging behaviour.
By the end of the course, you will be able to:
• Assess an individual and build a Positive Behaviour Support plan
• Implement behaviour support plans
• Use PMVA skills proportionately, as a last resort
• Work within a person-centred, preventative approach
